Health Data & Sound
UK-based companies have created the world's first AI engine, extracting health data from sound (SoNUS).
They use low-cost microphones to extract complex information and identify medical conditions. This could revolutionize healthcare and promote less invasive diagnostic tools.
Of course, this is nothing new to the sound healing world. Using energy assessment techniques and instruments such as tuning forks and singing bowls, practitioners can obtain an understanding of energy blockages.
Our students at SHA learn to identify imbalances in the biofield by establishing base sounds with the instruments and then learning to sense where the fluctuations are, and determine where an issue lies in a client's body.
If you want to know more, you can read more in some of our past blogs!

Academy graduate thriving in Lefkada, Greece
SHA graduate Christian Gkekas is based in Lefkada, Greece and runs his own business Lefkada Wellbeing.
Before studying sound healing with us, he was already working in complimentary medicine as a massage therapist. Wanting to extend his offer, Christian was looking for something more to offer his clients and discovered sound healing and The Sound Healing Academy.
Since graduating from a Level 2 Diploma (1-2-1 With Clients), Christian has found a great love for tuning forks. He says “they’re versatile, I can carry them everywhere with me and I have experienced how powerful it is to work on the biofield to clear any blockages and stuck energy, and on the body when working with weighted tuning forks!”
He also said...
“The best thing about this practitioner training is that it has a holistic approach to the human being, using the quality of unconditional love for the healing outcome. My tutor, Katie Mccoy, really opened my eyes to energy work, and she was extremely supportive and nurtured my interest.
Since my graduation, I've been working with my massage clients with great long lasting results, I've been providing sound baths in yoga and pilates centers, and organized my own retreats, providing sound healing sessions and workshops.
The integral sound healing model has given me exactly the foundation I was looking for to bring sound into my work. I like that there is a structure but also flexibility to adjust to every individual's needs, and also space to use my intuition.
Many people give me feedback about the sound healing sessions and sound baths. The most interesting was a 45 year old woman who asked for help with a problem on her right shoulder, who has suffered all her life with migraines during her cycle. After 4 sound healing sessions, the migraines disappeared, and she is feeling much better now!
For my next development as a sound healing practitioner, I'm thinking of buying the Bio-well device, to connect it with my sound healing business. Also, I would be interested to gain more skills to work with children or people with special needs such as autism. Furthermore, I would be interested to see from The Sound Healing Academy an advanced course on gongs!” (we’ll see what we can do, Christian!)
We are delighted to hear that Christian is finding success with his sound healing business and has been able to grow his offerings to existing massage clients.
A Promising Study
A study published in September 2024 examined the combined effects of integrating drumming, body percussion, sound therapy, and trance therapy into Subconscious Energy Healing Therapy (SEHT) for Peak Performance.
The promising results suggest that personal and professional development can be significantly enhanced. The rhythmic and vibrational effects of the practices were particularly highlighted as profound for mental clarity, emotional healing and physical well-being. The authors state that employers would gain greater productivity from employees by improving well-being and team cohesion.
The benefits of rhythmic interventions for health are becoming more recognized within healthcare.
Medrythmns, based in the US, is leading the way with cutting edge technology utilizing rhythm to support people affected by brain injuries or neurological conditions impacting on physical activities. Informed and led by current research, the results are compelling and significant.

The Native American Flute
Native American style flutes hold a special place in sound healing due to their deeply soothing and spiritual tones, which resonate with the essence of nature and the human soul.
These are our top reasons why we love this instrument!
- their ability to evoke a sense of introspection and meditation
- their breath-driven notes seem to flow effortlessly, mimicking the gentle sounds of wind and water, which are inherently calming
- can be used to create an atmosphere of peace and mindfulness, helping individuals connect with their inner selves, clear mental blockages, and foster a sense of groundedness
Whether you’re a practitioner or someone seeking to heal through sound, the Native American style flute offers a gentle yet powerful way to balance the mind, body, and spirit.

What Sounds Do You Find Relaxing?
Studies have found that sound and music can have a significant impact on our wellbeing and can reduce stress.
For example, sounds of nature such as bird songs or sounds of the ocean, taking part in music making and taking part in a sound bath.
In a world full of noises and sound which can cause stress, anxiety and trigger negative emotions, what sounds do you find relaxing?
Take a few moments to reflect on sounds you hear in your everyday life - what kind of response do you have to these sounds?
If you find the ‘ping’ of a notification makes you feel stressed or jumpy, could you turn off your notifications? Maybe step away from devices and go for a walk in nature. What sounds in nature do you find peaceful and relaxing?
If you haven’t been to a sound bath, you might find this just the right space to switch off from the negative impacts of noise, and be bathed in sounds which aim to soothe and relax. What are your favorite instruments? One of ours is the frame drum, as its powerful sounds and vibrations help us to connect with grounding energy and the beat of the Earth.
We recommend you take a few moments to reflect on the impacts of sounds on your wellbeing, then you can actively seek out sounds that you enjoy and make more time for self-care!
And that’s a wrap for our January Newsletter!
